I think the hot spots are with farmers coops. I know with CHS-Prairie Lake Coop in Minnesota, they can not get enough kids to work there! They are hiring like crazy.
Also, in the Land Use planning area. Cities need students to take over planning jobs because cities are growing so fast that they can not keep up!
I'd like to know if anyone's seening an increase in "green" jobs in the renewable (wind, solar, bio-fuels) arenas? If you've got a job at a "green energy" company is your employer looking for more workers? And, if so, with what skill levels? Or, are things on hold until credit loosens?
One great area is the local farmer cooperative system. We have more than 800 local cooperatives in the US today. The cooperative system is always looking for talented people that have a passion for ag. We like to groom from within so the opportunities for future growth is unlimited.
Have you ever heard of a Land Marketer/ business development specialist? I am VERY new to the farming industry. Trying to get a handle on salary & compensation.
